State Decides to Limit Boat Ramp Parking

The state Office of Fishing and Boating Access has set limitations to parking in state public access boat ramps.

Here are the numbers for our Manchaug Pond:

Total Trailer Spaces: 28
Maximum July 1 through August 31: 14
Maximum September 1 through June 30: 22

  1. Dick, I didn't hear anything about it until it appeared on their website. My thought is the limitations are directed to those taking out permits for club events such as kayak/canoe and fishing groups. This would leave more spaces open for other boaters.

Manchaug Pond can be a very popular place, especially on the weekend. A check of the state event schedule at http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/pab/pab_schedevents.htm
shows permit/reservations for just about every Saturday and Sunday from April through October.

But 14 spaces sure isn't many for a club event.
